OK, I have only read through the first 4 pages of this thread, but I have to respond. The "Dev Blog" was nothing but a slap in the face to your CUSTOMERS. All I really got out of it is, STFU and take what we give you. Also, the leaked e-mail, if it is truely from Hilmar, shows that you really have no clue to what your customers want. I don't think that CCP realizes that we do not have to give you our money, nor do we have to play EVE. We do it because we love this game. I know you're not Americans, and maybe you have never heard this phrase before, but "The customer is always right." Because if you don't listen to your customers, you don't make money.
Right now CCP is losing the last shred of loyalty I have left. You don't want to listen to us, you don't want to address the real issue and you don't want to listen to the CSM that was to be your sounding board for stuff like this. I am appalled at you attitude towards us.
The leaked internal newsletter should have been addressed immediately. Because it wasn't, no one believes you. You should have answered the biggest question on everyone's lips, "Will NEX be used for non-vanity items?" That should have been your first "Dev Blog". And it needs to be answered by none other than the CCP CEO himself, nothing else will be listened to at this point. You have let us stew too long for it to be otherwise, because, in the absence of facts, our worst nightmares appear to become true. And truthfully, I'm not even sure this will help any more.
CCP used to be the renegade for MMOs. You were told a single shard universe would never work. It has, more than even you had hoped. You were told that a persistent, spaceship based game world would not work. And internet spaceships became serious business. Now you say you have to bend to "conventional wisdom" and become like other MMOs with MT. That does not make sense, you have proven the industry wrong so many times, that you should be the industry standard. Your recent actions leave us dumbfounded, but at least we are not silent.
But the worst thing you have done is not introduced MT, after being told we didn't want it in the game. It wasn't the introduction of Incarna, after we asked for it to be optional. Its not even that a flaw in the coding for CQ may be responsible for killing computers in near nuclear fire. No, it is not any of these, though they are serious issues in, and of themselves. It is the fact that you are lieing to us. And you have done it so much recently, and then sidesteped are very valid concerns, that we no longer believe and trust you. It will take a lot of effort on your part to regain that trust back.
I, for one, do actually like the CQ. But I have also gotten lucky and just happened to have a system that is able to handle it. If you can fix the coding, it will become amazing. But, no one may ever get to see its full potential. There does need to be a spot in between space and CQ, making the old hanger view be the default, with a button to enter your CQ is a very good idea. You may want to try it. Don't use the NEX for $ for in-game advantage item sales. We can live with the vanity only items.
I do not want to see EVE go away, I have loved this game since I started playing in late 2007. From the first, I was hooked. As have been many others over the years. You have a unique game, universe and (very) loyal fanbase. We have weathered the years well together, yes together. Our thoughts on the game were always listened to, if not always actually used, or followed. That has changed. We need a direct answer, yes or no, from the very top of CCP. Nothing less will do at this point. You have your chance, right now, to fix this. And unlike Hilmar says in his email, you really should listen to us, because by the time you see us leaving and realize you, just might, have been wrong, it may well be too late to save EVE, and by extension, CCP. Please, listen to us, and give us something!
